I have been on a School Board for over 3 years now and I had witnessed wasteful spendings, Bad contracts, No transparency, Absolutely zero accountability to taxpayers especially those who have no children in schools, the educational system that keeps failing our children, This past election we finally were able to get somewhat conservative majority on the board and now at last we started to see changes: TRANSPARENCY, Budget cuts, review of the curriculum, greater recognition of student achievement and recognition of the staff members
THE TOP ISSUES: 1) Taxes, taxes taxes! The Budget IS STILL not balanced. We had a surplus but the previous superintendent before Mr Weston, blew through that with the old Democratic board and we are in 1.2 million deficit as of now
2) CBA and ACT 93 . We have THE WORST CBA and ACT 93 in place again put by the Old Democratic board (driven by MARKLEY who is seeking reelection) compared to other School Districts. They LITERALLY Bankrupting our District. Act 93 which is for renegotiation now allows almost 2x paid Holidays, roll over days, AND BOTH CBA and ACT 93 almost 4% increase in pay that is also NOT based on merit!
3) Curriculum which dumbs down our children and is inferior to level of private schools and European standards. Our elementary school children are handed IPADS in KINDERGARTEN. Teachers Union was up in arms when I questioned the overuse of electronics. With previous Democratic board and Super Intended my concerns were buried, but now more and more parents are waking up to that. Not that children lose the most valuable years of the development stuck to the screen, they also pay for that with their eye sight.
4)ANTIETAM Merger. Recently Andrew Kline emailed to my committee recommending that our school district builds an administrative building, another High school and turf field. The merger was blocked by 5:4 vote. As you know the conservatives voted NO to that. Dont be shocked that those Antietam Graduates and those that had been advocating for the merger AND are running for the board (like both Klines) will bring it up. Hence Andrews email to start building.
Whoever is going to be elected comes PRIMARY in MAY 2025 will be making decisions on those issues.
Previous years of service. experience with Contracts, diligence, honesty and integrity. I have been true to every promise I had made to my electors.
I had volunteered to chaperone class trips, help in classrooms and school activities. I stepped up to the plate when teams needed assistant coaches for soccer and basketball and had offered my services even after my kids were no longer playing for Oley. Volunteering at HOSA, Volunteering for Chicken pot-pie last year with my plus 1 Highschooler Chris. We responded to call for more volunteers and through coordinators were put into take. We had no wait at our station and were able to process more requests because number one reason people historically didnt order more to go is because the line was too long..
I had asked our people and here what they said: " You are not afraid to say what needs to be said even if it is an unpopular truth" "We know you will fight for us"
So far every board member that ran on our team have been TRUE representative of our electors! We pledge the same!
