MEET YOUR CANDIDATES
- Mary Harris - Harris received her Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Kutztown University. While pursuing Professional Development, Harris acquired her Master's Equivalency. Harris taught at Reading High School and gained classroom experience as well as her permanent teaching certificate. She has been married to her husband Steven for forty years. They have raised eleven children while living in the Oley Valley School District.
- Benjamin Raker - Ben grew up in Spangsville and Limekiln, and graduated OVHS in 1991. He earned his BSED at Kutztown UV and MarJon University in Devon, UK, and was inducted into the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society in History. Ben taught British and European history in England, and World Cultures, American History, and Civics here in the United States for many years. An accomplished historian and fan of both PA Dutch culture and Colonial America, Ben has restored and lived in three Early American stone houses in Berks and Lancaster Counties, including one of Oley's original pre-Revolutionary War houses on Main Street. Over the years, Ben has backpacked through Europe and the British Isles, Central Asia, the United States, and helped to build a church in Nicaragua. His son currently attends the Oley Middle School.
- Sharon Kershner -Sharon and her husband have resided in the Oley Valley School District for twenty-three years. They are the parents of two grown sons. For twenty years she served as the treasurer of a non-profit educational organization where she taught elementary school writing classes and high school personal finance classes. Sharon is proficient in evaluating curriculum and preparing lesson plans. In addition she has mentored high school students in earning college credits through dual enrollment and CLEP exams. Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and has both public and private accounting and tax experience
- Jamie Freed - Freed is a graduate from Lehigh University with a BS in Computer Engineering. Jamie has worked as a design engineer in the semiconductor industry for over 25 years. He and his wife have 15 children, with 6 graduates from Oley Valley and many to go.
- Candice Corle Corle earned her MBA at Ashford/ University of Arizona Global with an emphasis in project management. She has spent the last 10 years reshaping the way companies manage business operations, deploying a center of excellence across 4 organizations and developed many project and program managers into executives.
